About this test
Inspired by Daniel Goleman's popular four-domain framework (1995). For each pair, pick the option that fits you better today — not the one you'd want to be. We score four habits — Compass, Composure, Empathy, Influence — and reveal one of 16 EQ archetypes, plus your raw scores so you can see the texture beneath the label. This is an entertainment quiz, not a clinical assessment, not the MSCEIT®, EQ-i®, ESCI or TEIQue®.

Frequently asked
Is this the MSCEIT or EQ-i?
No. The MSCEIT® and EQ-i® are commercial assessments owned by Multi-Health Systems Inc. We don't use those instruments, their items, or their scoring algorithms. Our quiz is inspired by the same underlying construct — emotional intelligence as popularized by Daniel Goleman's 1995 book — but uses our own domain names, our own questions, and our own archetype labels.
How accurate is it?
This is an entertainment quiz, not a clinical assessment. Self-report EI tests in general have moderate test-retest reliability and overlap measurably with personality factors like Conscientiousness and low Neuroticism. We address this by showing your raw domain scores (0-100) alongside the archetype label, so you can see how strong each habit really is. Treat it as a conversation starter about your emotional habits, not a diagnosis.
Why does my result feel slightly off?
Two common reasons. First, if you scored near 50 on any domain, you're a "borderline" — you fit your archetype but also resemble the adjacent one (we tell you which). Second, emotional habits shift with context (work vs home, stress vs rest) and over time. Re-take in 6 months to see what's stable and what's grown.
Can I retake the test?
Yes, as often as you like. Each attempt has a unique result URL you can share. We recommend at least a week between retakes — emotional habits don't shift on a daily basis, but they do shift over months.
Is the test free?
Yes, fully free. No signup, no payment, no email required. Your results are anonymous unless you choose to share them via the share button. No paid "full report" upsell — what you see is the whole result.
How long does it take?
About 12 minutes — 30 paired-choice questions, no timer. You can pause mid-test (we save progress in your browser); accidentally closing the tab doesn't lose your answers.
Where do the questions come from?
All questions are written by Qsapio editors, inspired by Goleman's four-domain framework. We don't copy items from MSCEIT, EQ-i, ESCI, TEIQue, SSEIT, or any clinical inventory. This quiz is NOT a diagnostic tool — mental health conditions can only be diagnosed by a licensed professional.
My EQ score seems low — should I be worried?
No — and the test isn't designed to make that judgement. EQ habits are learnable. A lower score on any domain points to a growth area, not a flaw. If you're genuinely concerned about your emotional well-being, talk to a therapist or doctor — that's a different conversation than this quiz can have.
