The Coach
Reflective · Volatile · Attuned · Engaging
You're tuned in to your own state, deeply attuned to others, and you actively shape the conversations you're in. The missing leg is composure: the same intensity that makes your engagement land can also make you volatile when the wave gets big. People light up around you because you bring real feeling to every interaction — and that same realness can spill over when the situation calls for steadier ground. Where this shines: coaching, motivational work, founding-team energy, sales or evangelism for things you genuinely believe in, parenting and friendship roles where presence matters more than polish, leadership in mission-driven teams where conviction is the fuel. You make people feel seen, and you can move them toward action in ways more measured leaders can't. Your blind spot: passion without an off-switch can become exhausting — for you and for the people who've been trying to keep up. You may oscillate visibly between high engagement and a crash that feels disproportionate from the outside, and that pattern can erode trust over time even when individual interactions are excellent. The intensity that makes you compelling can also make people ration their bandwidth around you, which is the opposite of the connection you actually want. To grow: build a steady-state baseline. Sleep, exercise, a cool-down ritual after big interactions — anything that gives the volatility somewhere to live other than your next conversation. Coaching at this level is endurance work, not sprint work, and the coaches who burn out quietly stop helping the people they entered the work to help. The pace is what makes the practice sustainable.
