Attraction is the gate. Someone can be admirable, kind and entirely sorted, and if the pull isn't there you will not talk yourself into it — you've probably tried, and it didn't take. That is more honest than the profiles that pretend the pull is a bonus, and it protects you from a specific kind of unhappiness: the sensible relationship that everyone approves of and nobody in it enjoys. The blind spot is that pull is the fastest-moving of the three standards. It is loud at the start and quiet later, so a bar set here does its selecting at exactly the moment you know least about the person. What tends to help this profile isn't lowering the bar — it's waiting a month before deciding what the pull was telling you.
