The Courtroom

You expect a lot of other people and you feel a lot expected of you, while your own work isn't where the pressure lands. Standards, in this profile, are something that happens between people rather than something you carry alone — and that is a genuine way to live, not a contradiction. It is the normal shape in environments that enforce quality socially: teams, families and trades where the bar is held collectively, argued about openly and applied by everyone to everyone. The cost is that this arrangement runs on the relationships themselves. When the standard is public, falling short of it is public too, and a disagreement about the work becomes a disagreement about the person faster than anyone intends.
